    How come everytime you come around my London London bridge wanna go down

    See Tracy! I blogging. :)

    Where to start….

    London is a really charming city. Sometimes I feel so comfortable around here I forget I’m in another country!
    However I can’t get use to how dead the streets get at night unlike NY. Sometimes I feel like I’m walking through a hollywood set, the streets are narrow, there’s no people around and everything looks old yet.. clean..
    OH and the streets are two way, city blocks are not in gridline 90 degrees so I get terribly lost in the swurving nonsensical streets, nobody flashes their blinkers, and J walking is a must have skill here.

    And sometimes I feel like I get (sounds cheesy) lost in another era, there are so many buildings, churches, and hotels that date back to the 1600s. I honestly get overwhelmed and spooked out, until of course, I pass by a Mcdonalds and Pizza Hut and remember I’m still in the wonderful 21st century.

    All my professors speak so eloquently, they make me feel like I speak like a thug on the streets with my NY accent.
    And I won’t post up dorm pictures since they’re littered all over facebook. lol
    But yeah, it’s the first year NYU kids aren’t living in a rented condo. NYU bought these new buildings around Bedford Square, which is located in a nice neighborhood. However, things are too new around here.. literally when I first came there were still painters and decorators everywhere! The dishes/cups/pots all still had their pricetag on and the people on the floor above us didn’t even have running water! Our water is a bit on and off too but we are getting free rent for now. :) Not complaining. :)

    Oh and fish and chips are iite.

    And the eggs cost more than the chicken here.

    Don’t get me started with asian food. ): disappointing.

    Oh and I’m starting to get suspicious of London following in china footsteps. Some of these buisnesses seem like a rip off of the American brands..

    As much as I love this place.. I always feel NY’s charm can never be replaced. I miss it so muchhh. And my darling lilo. Oh the sadness. ):

    Oh and if you are bored…really bored..

    http://www.twitter.com/mykani I’m posting up weird/interesting things I see in London everyday~

    Cheers

    College

    I feel bad for not blogging and quite honestly, I won’t give the excuse of not having any time because of studying (which although… is true to a large extent haha.) It was more like I never had anything meaningful or interesting to blog about since I don’t have dorm life.. which = no psycho roommates/horror stories of nasty bathrooms with chicken infestations hahah

    But yeah, I read the posts posted by a few of you before and I’m just inspired to shed some things I’ve learned in college.

    1) You are responsible for our your own college experience.

    As a commuter, this definately hit home hard. I had to consciously join clubs/events and put myself out there in order to meet people. It was totally worth it, the whole 2 hours of commuting back and forth haha </3 nts: get  a car. D: But yeah, one thing good about commuting is that it really helped me avoid unnecessary social distractions which I’m happy about after I got my final grades

    2) I can now officially be on time for anything. Thank you Mr.Ertman’s 8am Con west lectures.

    3) NY street signs make sense to me now.

    4) Never buy food anywhere near the nyu campus or otherwise be prepared for some major cash burning. (With the exception for the falafel and bagel carts, god bless them.)

    5) I now have the ability to spot a gay man 10 blocks away.

    What a cute dog. (:

    6) NYU consists of three populations : the nerds, the preps, and the koreans.

    8D

    7) (From friends who dorm)  On the housing application, where the question asks whether you are a liberal or conservative, it really means if you want your roomate to be straight or gay.

    Yeah… I’ll try to come up with more stuff but I need to sleep early. I’m jogging in the morning with debbie… one of the extremely overdue new years resolutions I made hahah

    And yep, NYU isn’t bad as I thought it would be ..With the exception of no dorm life BUT studying abroad would sorta kinda make up for it.

    ~~~Toodles
    midterms = end of social life
    Before I begin writing, I just found something amazing I had to share.
    8D
    —–
    I love being in the NYU campus atmosphere BUT school is starting to drive me in-sane. Midterms are approaching and it feels like I’ve been hungover from studying too much, I don’t remember what I do after school most of the time aside from reading. I hang out with friends here and there but all I remember is being in the library/kimmelcenter
    OH YEAH. I got a chance to study in the individual study rooms. Here in nyu, it’s like trying to get a seat on the D train during rush hour. It’s almost IMPOSSIBLE to get a spot for the room unless a miracle happens.
    I am such a nerd.
    Anyway…. You know how I never got food from the luncheon thing and got like 10 pieces of rice, etc.
    I lined up 30 minutes early this time. YES. I can be early. Especially when it comes down to free food.
    wooooo soo much foooood, I know what you are thinking (ewww blobs of what-the-heck-is-that??) But when you get out of class with a empty stomach with no money, anything tastes like heaven. It wasn’t that bad. Better than high school lunch.
    Hmm what else…oh yeahh there was also a street fair on the block next to the Kimmel Center in NYU. yeahh corn on the cob, zeppoles, SCRATCH CARD BOOTH. Heaven.
    I am not an addict. Just an investor.
    And.. sorry guys. It was inevitable with nyu. I’m a Mac.
    Annnnd (:
    During chem lectures:
    hahah ke is right. I might grow up to be the crazy dog lady at the end of the block. oh well.
    Fountains, Trees, Free food – what’s not to love? -AlliSON
    Bonjour lovely people reading this blog. (:
    So far my week in NYU is prettyyy interesting. Before school started on the 8th, I went to several commuter events. One event we just hung out in kimmel in our commuter lounge and played ddr/ rockband/cranium/jenga/poker(which i lost in 3 round by all-ining until they found out I was bluffing all the time) etc. They gave out free apples!!!!!!! (mac still sucks.)
    my friend ddring
    my friend ddring
    packed commuter lounge
    packed half of commuter lounge
    Another event was a luncheon where commuter students get free food. It was such a fail, I had like 2/44ths of a potato, weird looking veggies and like 10 pieces of rice. I didn’t even bother taking a picture but I’ll post something up since I haven’t posted food yet…. here’s what it probably looks like:
    Anyway, Washington Square park is soo pretty! A bunch of the buildings for NYU surrounds the square park so it’s like a mini campus for us. I don’t have like gorgeous greenery or amazing night skys but I have beautiful artificially grown trees with fountains and music/performers everytime I walk thourgh for classes. (I also found out there’s a dog park in the corner of east wash.sq. which makes things 84924x better for my morning walks. [:)
    washing sqwetting feet at fountain filled with screaming kids and guitar performers
    Walking to class is a workout since well, I can't read maps effectively even if my life depended on it. So, I drew amazing picture maps that look like this. How to get to Kimmel:
    my lifesaver
    This is a MUCH better option I discovered rather than holding out the nyu map since its almost like holding out your program card in high school.
    Classes are pretty big or extremely small for me. My chemistry class is in a mini auditorium with 99 people, my psychology class has 500 people in a huge auditorium, but my writing the essay class is in a small room in  the library with 12 kids. I love how there’s so many different people though. Some students in my class are like 30+ years old (I thought he was the teacher too .. oops.), some people you think are straight are gay (which makes them 20x funner to be around haha) and some people look quiet but are so freaking crazy.
    Well, for my 5 hour breaks between classes I go to my mom’s workplace to sleep. Yep, the life of a dormless commuter. I’ll get a job.
    And having cute professors is never a good idea, can’t listen during my lectures. How are my lectures? Interesing even though they’re pretty straightfoward. My writing class I had to tell the story behind my name. If you guys are interested :
    A few weeks before I was born, my name was set on being Connie since my chinese name is Ka-nee. Anyway, my mother found out her hairdresser’s name is Connie and didn’t want me to grow up to be like her since I guess she hated her. So, last minute decision was to name me after someone. Someone my family considered smart and be successul – my brother. Yes. My gay brother JackSON. Haha I admit we grew up having similar personalities but I think he took all the math genes and left me with leftover art genes. Yep. Story behind AlliSON.
    Oh yeah, before school started, I stopped by Boston to totally stalk jenny. ( JK we were there for a family weekend trip. I just happened to pass by BC so we stopped by.)
    Haha sorry Jenny Y. for sending stalkerish texts ie: “HEYY JENNYYY I’M ON YOUR CAMPUS PUHAHA” yeah.. didn’t notice.. I wish we stayed longer. And holy shit the choi in boston is like on steroids. HUGE.
    boston~
    boston!~
    veggies on steriods!!!
    veggies on steriods! took 10 minutes to chew each
    boston collegeee
    stalking jenny y
    poor dude :c
    poor dude :c (chinese resturant)
    pretty sunsets
    sunsets in boston are amazing omg
    Well, I have a bunch of homework now ( I feel your pain now guys) so I’m making this post short.
    Ciao~ Oh, how can I forget… (:
    New New York – ALLISON
    School hasn’t started for me but WELCOME WEEK has begun! It’s just a week filled with random events for NYU kids.
    I seriously thought it would be a drab living in the same environment but .. I don’t know whether its because half the time I don’t know where I am or I get lost in the city that everything seems so new.It’s weird, but  I actually feel like I’m in college….though I pass pacific street everyday and probably will get nostalgic. ):
    ANYWAY, making this short with lotsa pictures. (on my crappy phone of course)
    First arrived at Kimmel Center for a commuters welcome/orientation meeting. ( Thank GOD I had an extra nyu map in my purse.. and on my id .. and on my phone. Arrived only 10 minutes late)
    The ice breaker was to have the entire section of your seating area to arrange themselves from oldest to youngest without talking. Hence the card with my birthdate. yeah… nyu is known for its lame icebreakers. There were more but nothing interesting to elaborate.
    AnywayyyAfter the meeting we got tickets to Madison Sq. Garden for the Presidential Welcome/ NYU Performance.
    LOL The NYU musical performance was hilarous. A lot of awkward dancing about college life ie: drinking, sex, dorming, etc.
    Looks like a freaking concert. right??  Sooo many people. But we got to choose our own seats on the balcony. Felt  important sitting up there  8) haha
    Next, me and my friend went to line up for the illusion show at 8. ( Good thing we lined up early, freaking six flags shit right here. The line twirled to the corners of the building!)  Got a hot dog for 1 buck because I didn’t have change and the guy sorta liked me. .. Now that I think of it, it’s kind of creepy… anyhow$1hotdog wooot :D
    HOOOOLY SHIT. AMAZING STUFF. I raved all about it to debbie on AIM. Amazing stuff. Really. I’ll link some videos.
    In the beginning of the show he asked for volunteers to just RUSH up the stage and take seats/position so there couldn’t be any staged volunteers.The only catch was that the people on stage must want to be hypnotized.
    Here he puts everyone to sleep. Some people just fell on the floor hard.
    Out cold.
    There was a part where he hypnotizes the kids that it is freezing cold and the person next to them is a radiator. Note that all the kids do not know each other and some were offended when they woke up and were on top of each other.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5uuukeLO_tk
    Here are some videos on youtube:
    — hypnosis show summary —-
    This is when he makes a belt seem like a snake and everyone is scared. (My friend volunteered and she told me how scared shitless she was) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoIRggzPRf8&feature=channel_page
    Here he hypnotizes people into thinking they are in a hot desert and their shoe is a oxygen mask. People stripped here and there. HILAROUS when my friend took off is socks and smelled his shoe like there is no tomorrow. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l62QvX6IRdU&feature=channel_page
    This was when he hypnotized the people to feel the hardest pinch they have ever felt on their butt and they think the person to the left did it. Dude, some people got so mad that they chased people around and swore like a mothertrucker.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYQm-FcCqkw&feature=channel_page
    LMAO This was my favorite. A guy (Cha Cha – will elaborate more in post) is hypnotized into thinking a broom is the finest girl he has ever seen in a tight brown dress. He starts to make out with her. Haha poor dude. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpVcIA0yVT8&feature=channel_page (my own footage (blurry) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAEnjSt8qs0)
    A girl has the number 6 erased from her memory. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vX9vFRqEUmk&feature=channel_page (own footage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i64qC_mAujo)haha this was the same girl that was hypnotized into thinking the guy next to her has the most sexy, irresistable aftershave on. She kept smelling his neck and the guy was just staring indifferently and pissed at the audience LOL
    There was more, like erasing a person’s memory of their own name and renaming him Cha Cha.  The hypnotist purposely gets “Cha Cha”‘s name wrong and Cha Cha gets SUPER mad since its a name he is EXTREMELY proud of. (Like the first born of his family’s name was cha cha and how his  family passed this name down generations) It was funny since when he woke up he had “cha cha” sharpied to his forehead and didn’t know what was happening. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ecun7PpKD7A
    There was also one where the hypnotist hypnotizes the volunteers where he turns invisble. He carries a bottle around and moves it across the floor that people start to freak out and one dude took a broom and seriously start twacking at the hypnotist.
    Last one I can remember is that he makes the audience naked to the volunteer’s eyes. It was hilarious when my friend came down the stage and yelled at my other friend in the audience who ran into the aisle and shaking his thing when he was ‘naked’. “I’VE SEEN MORE THAN I EVER WANTED TO SEE OF YOU.” It was also cool how he made the volunteers forget everything when they ‘wake up’ but they will remember everything when they step off the stage. Their faces were priceless.
    — hypnosis show summary end—
    hehe fun fun day. Came home at like 1 am but it was worth it. Might be going to other events but wiped out from laughing. My cheeks were THROBBING at the end of the night from laughing so much.
    Ciao, need some sleep time~
      OMG! I HAD THE HYPNOTIST TOO!! LOLLL!! and yeah ppl were on top of each others, the volunteers on stage had to like pull them apart! My hypnotist made the people on stage pretend they were doing a muscle-building contest. and the guy went around asking” why should you win?” and this black guy goes ” because i’m sexual chocolate” LOL!!!
