I cannot believe our first year is over. To be honest, I haven’t had much time over the past weeks to really think about it. So right now, I’m going to try to type out what’s in my mind and to share some updates with you guys.
Change?
This school year has certainly been one of many changes. For some of us, it is adjusting to a completely new environment. For others, it is a brand new social circle with different habits and lifestyles, even some questionable ones. We are thrust into a different habitat, forced to make new friends and decisions for ourselves. How did this ever happen? When did we get old? I’m not going to lament over that but it is amazing how far we have come. It has taken me more time than usual to adjust, to adapt and to acclimate to this. What I have realized is that it is worth it in the end. Not only does it make us more independent but also it bridges us toward our next step in life.
This change has also allowed us to reinvent ourselves. Not to say your old self was not good enough but this moment in life has given us an excellent opportunity to take initiative. Maybe you might not even notice your progress, maybe your change came with growing older. Either way, I believe all of us in some ways even minuscule, have changed. We could be influence by our friends, the people we associate ourselves with. For me my roommate (bio chem major) have made me more studious. I have accepted that parts of life will admit nothing less than hard work and that responsibility only falls on me. That is the result of my setbacks in high school but also the drive for my future.
I must say Geneseo really grew on me, the wonderful people I have met, the friendly atmosphere, and the beautiful natural setting. Sometimes I rather marvel at how lucky I am to meet those who helped me become a better person. Along the way we have stumble and tumble along, but I would not regret attending Geneseo and college in general.
Summer 10’
Nothing new, I probably travel before summer ends but otherwise I will be working at the museum and just chilling out. I did not want to or really needed to take classes. Come out when you got time! We all need to catch up.
A bit ahead
Back in Feb, I committed to applying for transfer to Cornell. Looking back, I applied for reasons for more than just academics. I was still adjusting to the social environment and academics. I was unsatisfied with what I had; I thought I had seen all Geneseo could offer. I thought a small school (4000) people would be perfect for me but it was not. With budget cuts across SUNYs, I thought my education would also be shortcoming. As I was packing, I realized it was only a speed bump in my road, a brief scare and play of emotions. I have bonded with the right people and my classes were all going right. As for budget cuts, it was out of my control and the college has dipped into its bank account. Life was all right.
The Dean of admissions eventually called me and explained that they didn’t have enough space so they were offering a deferred spring 2011 transfer option. They said I would be finishing all my gen eds that would apply to the industrial labor relations degree. To be honest I have mixed feelings. I mean its Cornell, and I would be pursuing a major that I am very excited about. I decided not to tell my parents since I want to make a personal decision and not be pressure into transferring. I will think this over during the summer but as for now, options are opened.
I know not everybody blogs anymore because some of us have moved on with our lives. I do not blame you nor do I want to persuade you to blog. I know how busy college can get, one minute you are having pizza at 1 am and then the next, a presentation about recent macroeconomic policies of the government. Nevertheless, thank you to those who continue to check the site. I think I check at least once per day. I rambled enough.
Besides, I am almost landing in JFK. Good luck to everyone pursuing your endeavors in the summer sun!
Ke
P.S During my last geography class, the professor told us a concluding story for the course. It was about a former student he had 10 years ago whose 8 year old sister was diagnosed and later
passed away from Leukemia. He said we were all fortunate enough to live this far and experience life. And when he said that, I realized my situation pales in comparison to what that little girl must have undergone or missed. I feel whatever happens in life, I am lucky enough to be myself and able to live life to the fullest.
GMH
I still read too!! I love the song too. Nice to have you back keekles
See you soon.
Yes ke, live life. Do you get to socialize much in the museum??!? not much people visit museums nowadays so i shall put an end to that. time to visit!!!
Ke, your philosophical side is showing!!!! haha but seriously, some pretty deep you’ve put together in this post.
I agree, being content with life is probably one of the hardest things we have to do.
And about the ILR dilemma.. the way I see it, there is no bad decision and a win-win situation regardless – both geneseo and cornell are great schools for you. Both also have green ggreeengrneen campuses haha lucky ducky!
So I’m finally back in Geneseo. After i missed my Sunday morning bus. I blame train delays. Lets never mention it again.
I caught a ride with my friend and she ate McDonalds while going 80 on the highway. Respect yo.
When i got out of the car and breathed in the cow manure odor in the air, it just rang out welcome back to Geneseo.
So ESPN turned into Telemundo, all the channels below 40 are fuzzy, this is a nightmare. I need a work order on this..
How about those jets? NY > perfect records.
Break was awesome. Got a lot accomplished and worked. i can’t believe the next time we are going back is in march.. Its almost two months away. My spring break is from march 15th-21st. The worst thing is when i have to spend Chinese new year in college. My mom is going to take all my red envelope money too loll. I will make due by celebrating with the culture club. Its kind of cool, like the away family in college.
Class at 8.30 A.M x.x two alarm clocks yes.
Blog about your start of the semester !

Anyone see the recent south park episode where Cartman sings the song?, find it on youtube!
To Eric, Did you get cod, modern warfare 2? Best shooter I have ever played.
Anyone watching the show call V on ABC? Really interesting, it replaced heroes for me.
Philly cheese steak hot pockets + coffee make for a good breakfast.
Fact: mid night pizza is unhealthy but so damn good.
Hockey is a really fun sport to watch especially when you’re in the front row and they WAM into the glass haha. Last night’s hockey game was crazyyy, we beat Buffalo in a nail biter.
Hi.
I hope you all have been well and not infected with swine flu. I say that because H1n1 has arrived at Geneseo *insert grim music* and a small amount of people have gotten it. I hate flu season in general but vitamin c +water+ sleep really works to help prevent getting sick.
It’s been over a month since I last blogged and I haven’t had much time for anything. My tippets up there are just random highlights of my days in the midst of midterms. My work schedule consisted of waking up early and sleeping late to cram in some time of studying. The study room has become my solace and I have gotten to know one of the librarians well. I am finally done with midterms though! And I can’t wait for thanksgiving break!
The secretary I work for has sort of become my grandma, she bakes me cookies/gives me apples all the time, oh bless her. Yes her cookies are always freshly baked and we talk about different things from Yankees to beer pong to classes. (GO Yankees).
Halloween was fun. Walk of shame was not. No I didn’t get drunk but my friends did and they tried to do the thriller in the middle of the lawn lol… oh college.
I also painted a pumpkin! And it was an m&m but I lost my camera memory card so I can’t show you pictures =(. I was painting my pumpkin orange because I wanted an orange m&m and everyone kept asking why. They just don’t understand the artistic mind sigh.
Next weekend is Geneseo’s Chinese culture club’s china night. (GCCCCN aka Gc^3n) They dragged me in to do this Beijing opera style drum dance, arg why do these things always happen to me….
Reflecting- I feel like I have taken charge of my life more, leading a relatively healthy and balance lifestyle. Bleh I sound old, but I feel happy. And isn’t pursuit of happiness an unalienable right.
Hope it was an easy read and it’s almost 3 am. So I’m just going to end it and sleep. I can’t wait to see you guys on thanksgiving break!
p.s
“(305): You came into my room at 3am.. drunk.. and asked to do spanish homework together. Props for being a good student. ” – textsfromlastnight is hilarious.

So what we gon’ have, dessert or disaster?
Hey everyone =)
For some of us, almost 2 weeks of college have passed by. I don’t know if it’s just me but it feels like I been here for months. Time didn’t necessarily go slow, but it felt long. Well let me share some quick updates about school first. I have 5 classes plus lab, 7 hr work study per week, joined the tennis team, and became treasurer for hall council and I need to find that Chinese culture club. It’s now very busy in the week, sound familiar? I guess old habits never die or I’m just afraid of boredom or something.
Let’s go back, Class has been alright, my favorite class is calculus so far because my professor teaches really well and I learned a lot of the stuff already heh. Micro economics is getting harder each day and Geology is manageable if I study every week night. International politics is all lecture and as for Chinese, I’m forgetting my characters blah.
I work at the foreign language and literature department as a secretary assistant. It’s easy work but there are times I hate. BTW I hate mac. This teacher asked me to fix her margins for her mac Microsoft word but it wouldn’t go back to default so it frustrated both of us. I spent an extra 40 minutes in her office helping her print from her damn mac. Why did she get it if it sucks?
Tennis team is fun; don’t think I making the roster for division though since everyone else seems better than me. I threw in my name for hall council elections, put up 10 posters and somehow won as treasurer.

Enough of that, got a story to tell. So last Wednesday, my friend who has a car and me had to stock up on supplies at Walmart. We walked all to the way to the parking lot; only to find out he left his light on so it killed his car battery. The car didn’t start and not knowing what to do, my friend resorted to calling university police which is the same as 911. Yes we called 911 for jumper cables (dumb freshman moment) and borrowed someone else’s car the next day. Good thing was that there are instructions online and my friend spent 1 hr on YouTube watching how to jumpstart a car. We didn’t manage to electrocute ourselves which would have made the story funnier. The whole process was mad exciting, like we seriously thought the cars would blow up loll and we hid behind a tree when the car started making “recharging noises” But the car did start so that was a kick ass moment.
Last weekend, they had a 10 pm outdoor movie showing of star trek. That movie was awesome plus with the stars and the night just made it better. My friend said there was a real shooting star above the screen but I missed it. My geology teacher said Geneseo could get Northern lights in the winter so I hope that happens. There was a “female orgasm” show/discussion panel which I missed and this Friday night is the hypnotist. Bars/Frat parties are on every Thursday-Saturday, the hottest bar only allows 19 and older in so I have to wait a couple of months to legally go hahah. But there are always things to do on weekend nights other than party. Btw I live in the substance free section so the bathrooms don’t smell like someone died on Saturday mornings. I finally put my beds together woo. The walls are thin as hell here, I hear my neighbor talk on the phone and frankly it’s annoying. I bet he hears what I do too lol.. also 1 Am jogs are fun.
Since it is 9/11, I wore black today to remember. It’s hard to believe it’s been 8 years since I saw those two buildings collapse in front of my eyes. That fifth grade morning is something I can tell my grand kids one day.
Also last night or this morning.. coming home at 2.30 a.m, we saw this dude passed out on the grass and attended to by the first responders and paramedics. He was moving but Yea.. just want to share that.
Last note, my neighbor heard me singing “knock you down” in the showers lol….. I miss everyone~ thanks for reading, ciao! **PPA-CU 1028**

i have the biggest room lolll
haha someone has been watching wong fu *ppa-nobody lolol
holy crappp, i bet you won because your name is the most interesting/easiest to remember haha congrats though
you’re room is definitely the best one I’ve seen so far LOL doubletwin/ queen sized dorm bed.
pc ftw~
congrats on winning..but that’s our ke. busy everyday, every second possible around school
your room is so pretty. very asian. very ke luo.
omg, knock you down is so overplayed. sounds like you’re having fun you busy busy person. and JUST YOU WAIT, till i show you my school’s sunset. i was supposed to go yesterday but it rained like crazy
p.s. I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU WATCHED THE NEW WONG FU VIDEO THAT QUICKLY! LOL it wasn’t that great though.
KE, you know whats sad?!?! your dorm room is bigger than my room at home
OMG!that poster behind your bed! NORTHERN LIGHTS! DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THEM??? i didnt until last week of meteorology class, its scientifically called ” aurora borealis
you’re like the only person i know that doesn’t need to use the space under their bed
Ke you’re so luckyyyyy, that huge bed all to yourself. I agree about the two weeks feeling like months part. I’ve been here at BC for a week and it literally feels like a month.
Shut up about Macs, they’re super awesome, you’re just jealous…
Sounds like you’re super busyy
is it like tech all over again?
Ugh, and I still haven’t watched star trek….
you have like a king sized matrress there and i also feel it, its like ive been here forever when it hasnt even been a month yet, you doing all of these things makes me wonder what am i doing with my life, instead of being a treasurer im taking naps lol
omgoshh your room is huge!! my room is about half of that size! My bed barely fits me!
Dear friends
I’m in College! The one hour flight was fun and move in was quick and smooth thanks to those helpful volunteers. I do miss New York city- the smell of Chinatown, loud cabs, walk signs, Manhattan skyline, family, you, and Chinese people.
So after moving in that morning and most of the afternoon, they held a picnic for us but it was raining so they moved it to the ballroom. We played a bunch of icebreakers including this one where you close your eyes and let someone tell you where to go by tapping you on the shoulders. I ran into some people and we just laughed it off. Then we broke up into residence hall meetings and more alcohol ed meetings with RAs. That night a game show call ThinkFast was played, its like fun jeopardy with a dj playing music. My group went on to the finals and lost in style. We had Poker night in our hallway, so college student like.

Next day wake up call was at 9, breakfast at Doty field and then off to WAKINJAK( When a Kiss is Not Just a Kiss), a musical performance by students on sexual harassment. By that time it was raining hard but as tradition, new students gather on a field to form a big G and they take a photo from the roof. people were drench but we all got together in 5 minutes to get it done.

There was an outdoor movie showing Role Models and then mid knight bowling. They use a lot of puns involving knight… our mascot is a knight too. I’m catching a cold =/, its chilly here during night time.
So about my dorm room, i have a double room all to myself so I’m going to pull the beds together making a master bed after i get more sheets. Need to take advantage before i get a roommate. haha if u know what I mean wink* jp My dorm is one of the oldest dorms but we are in the middle of everything literally but everything here is broken. lol
I don’t know how to approach this next topic but my bed has a white stain on it. Like Wtf is that on my bed reaction but it was kind of funny. I just covered it with a post it and put my sheets over it. It’s at the end of the bed in the corner so not too bad.

Food is pretty good I would have to say. It’s like buffet style all you can eat and they have a good variety of fresh food. Like for brunch today, I made my own pancakes covered with cranberries, chocolate, syrup, whip cream and ice cream.
I also went to Wal-Mart yesterday for the first time with the school’s shuttle and I have to say the store is just awesome. You can practically live in Wal-Mart with the low prices and stuff they got. As for the people, everyone is pretty cool. They are a lot more Koreans than I expected but yeah predominately white and clique like.
Like penny’s notes about introductions, you do a lot of them but it’s so hard to remember names. I met 4 matts on the first day that I just gave up after the second one. Why do these white kids all have the same name.
As you can see, college life is up and down. Classes start tomorrow and i didn’t get all my supplies yet blah. For now, peace out guys until next time. I’m late for the kickball game held for freshmen and then more hall meetings followed up by book discussions, convocation and a candlelight tour of the campus.

First Geneseo sunset
Spruce tree, its like Debbie’s head tilt. hahah jk
aw have a good first day of class keekles!
LOL HAPPY STAIN
gorgeous ke.
AND LMAO about that white stain ewwww. Thats fun i like how these schools have so much stuff to do for the freshman seems like fun.

it’s okay, no one can be as original as you and have a name like KE at least you’ll be easily remembered (: for some reason, me and man were takling about keys and he goes, i have TWO KEYS, one here (his dormroom) and one in geneseo hahah.
the sunset is gorgeous btw. enjoy your first day of classes, don’t study too hard, and told you there’d be asians up at geneseo.

LOL Still trying to be ghetto ke?
Wow that wet stain does look bad ..
The ice breaker sounds fun, not embarrassing at all like those kids in Boston haha
Sounds like you’re having fun =) Pimp out your room dude, walmart is a few miles away!!!
So now you’re pretty G eh?! jk jk!
WELL!!! Uhm..since it’s at the corner of the bed…maybe it was a drool stain? (that’s still pretty nasty but it’s better than what it could ALSO possibly be!)
What’s up with all these schools being near a Wal-Mart?! I want to go to school near a cheap super-mart!
DUDE, MASTER BED?!?! AWESOMEEEE ![]()
Ke, I told you not to take advantage of your single room in the first few days…lol.
I am pretty jealous of your school’s buffet, too bad BC doesn’t have one ![]()
But at least I won’t get the Freshman 15 that easily!
I want a Wal-Mart here in NYC; I hope there’s one in Boston…but Target CLOSES DOWN just for us!!! SO HA! Beat that, Mid-Knight Bowling
Sounds like you’re having a ton of fun, go make many friends, and behave yourself mister!
