    -7lbs.

Yups. I’ve lost a total of 7lbs. in the past 2 weeks. I went to the doctors because I caught a cold and people in my dorm have swine flu. We think it’s because of our hand scanner. (Yeah…we have to scan ourselves to enter our dorm.) But any who!! I’ve lost 7lbs since the end of summer! Ridicuslouss. Only in Cooper do people get the reverse freshman 15.

So school has been…overwhelming. The very first day my professor gave us a project. We had to draft 2 5ft. x 3.5ft. drawings in 24 hours. It’s not easy when virutally every art supply store in the neighborhood has run out of the supplies you need and the drawings are as big as you. But! The class managed to get everything done, our professor said it was our first test of Cooper. After every project is done, we get critique (bashed) in front of the entire class, and then we are given another big project…the work never ends!!

After living on my own for a while, I’ve noticed that I am more and more like my mom every day. We have the same pet peeves and cleaning habbits. I am actually neater and cleaner when I live on my own. But yes…living with someone is really hard. Especially with groceries and CLEANING. Lets just say my roommate isn’t use to cleaning…at all. I’ve been home 4 times since school started though. Mostly because my mom got a new puppy to replace me. He’s adorable. His name is Rocky!!

Well! It’s 1:45am and I just came back from studio and I’m starving! That and I have more homework to finish. Most enclose this with a couple of photos! Peace!

goodluck with all of your work and hopefully your professor will know your name rather than your artwork LOL (:

New York Living (You Know You Miss It!)

So! I am FINALLY moved in!! But, of course, I left a lot of stuff at home that I need to pick up over the weekend.

Cooper Union is pretty disorganize in a sense. There were a lot of forms being messed up, like I wasn’t allowed to move into my dorm for the first hour because they couldn’t find my medical forms. Dumb, dumb dumb. Any who!! I was suppose to dorm with 2 other people, me having to share a bunk bed.  Turns out! My bunk mate found an apartment so I was able to have the room to myself, but the other roommate and I switched rooms because she paid the extra money for a single room. The dorm is nice-ish. Small, no oven, bad ventilation but GREAT VIEWS! I got the room with the best view that overlooks all of the west village. (Pictures to be posted) Oh. And by the by, my floor is ALL GUYS except me and my suitemate. Our RA’s are really strict, keeping such a careful eye on us. Another thing about living here is well uhm…no meal plan!! I have to buy my own groceries! Which is pretty expensive in the city. (got to get back to work I guess) I can cook a little but we are so limited here!! No toaster oven or water heaters and there’s  no exhaust fan so we can’t use too much oil either! (my suitemate set the smoke detector off yesterday actually…it was kinda funny to see all of the guys on the floor run to the stairwell all at once.) I think I’m going to have the reverse freshmen fifteen…I’ll be fifteen lbs. lighter due to lack of time and skills. I had my first ramen today…

We didn’t have a lot of ice breakers like the rest of you guys. We had one with my floormates and we did cherades (sp?) There are a lot of international students here.  In my major alone there are 7 international students out of 25 students. People come from such diverse backgrounds and they have really interesting stories. A guy I met left his family in HK at the age of 15. Moved to LA finished HS and then traveled the world by himself. He’s really cocky and very weird but he’s definitely interesting.  Cooper as a whole, you can definitely tell who’s in what major. Art kids are WAY unique and dress so…uh….I don’t even know. Engineer guys are NERDS. Engineer girls are pretty. Us architects? I guess we just float around. We are actually considerably “normal.”

The past three days of orientation have been preparing us for Cooper’s  classes. They are teaching us how to write in “their style” and we already had our first diagnostic essay (must suck for the people who don’t know English!) We also had a Circle Liner cruise around Manahattan which was pretty nice. Dinner and a DJ. I have no internet in my dorm so I haven’t been able to video chat or go on AIM or even check my email. I only get internet in my bathroom but it disconnects me a lot.

But right now, I am in the common room watching a movie called “The Game” with my roommate and random people we invited. We just devoured Pomme Frittes. We ordered a double with 3 sauces. Vietnamese Mayo, Smoked Eggplant, and something Mango. I love stores that are open at 1 in the morning!

I miss you all. Hope you guys are having fun and I want to see you guys soon! YOU GUYS NEED TO COME BACK TO NYC!!!!! Love you <3

Be thankful you have pomme frites T__T. I am starving. Anyway why don’t you apply to Hollister, you wouldn’t have to travel back and forth to work and such. Hey guess what, everything at Boston closes at 10 BE THANKFUL YOU HAVE NYC!!!!! Send us care packages please, and get some sleep. Stephanie I don’t want you to have bigger eye bags than you do.
